to international community by Dr.Hilal Mammadov- a prisoner of conscience regarding the continuous attacks to human rights defenders in Azerbaijan

Dear ladies and gentlemen!

With excitement and in a painful manner I’m compelled to make this appeal to You once again – to the entire progressive minded and peace supporting people …

The on-going prosecutions, arrests and pressures towards the free-thinker and democratic people, youth activists, public figures, people of faith and others became more aggressive and ruthless in the recent time. Despite the pressures by the authorities, people started to resist and protest in the regions as they are tired of injustice by the government and the country is approaching to an unavoidable civil war.

Recently, Mr. Eldar Namazov- the leader of the “EL herakati” (people’s movement), Mr. Eldaniz Guliyev -head of the union of the intelligentsia and Mr. Ibrahim Ibrahimov –the public figure and many others were subjected to sudden attack , were thrown stones and were stopped to go to the destination , Mr. Ibrahim Ibrahimov who is member of “ Istiglal” party ,the former deputy to parliament was kidnapped at the funeral ceremony of his relative who was subjected to merciless torture ,all of which are clear example and evidence to the above-said.

Dear ladies and gentlemen!

We- witnessing the bitterness of Garabagh war, the entire peace making and free-thinking people of our country wouldn’t wish to face the current tragedy of the states in the Middle East regions that caused mass human killing and destruction. We believe that it is not appropriate to the economic and political interest of your country.

I hope that the first positive step towards restoring justice is to voice the concerns of the political prisoner by bringing this issue to agenda again and by this you will correct the mistake of OSCE made on the meeting of January 23, which became a black spot in the development of world’s democracy.

We wish You every success in your joint efforts for the sake of salvation and future prosperity in the world including in the Europe.
