Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas, was eliminated today in the Gaza Strip

Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas, was eliminated today in the Gaza Strip. A reward of $400,000 had been placed on his head for information about his whereabouts more than a year ago. However, no one turned him in, despite Sinwar being among Gaza's "civilian population."

At one point, he managed to escape from the IDF through Gaza’s underground tunnels, leaving behind everything, including money in a safe in his bunker.

Recently, he had been moving around strapped with explosives and surrounded by hostages.

He was "accidentally" killed when IDF soldiers were patrolling the area, saw militants taking cover in a building, and fired on it with tanks.

Later, two bodies were found under the rubble—Sinwar and his assistant. There were no hostages with them.

Summary: Yahya Sinwar was high on Israel's most-wanted terrorist list. The Israeli government holds him responsible for planning the terrorist attack on October 7, 2023. He had replaced Ismail Haniyeh as the leader of the terrorist group after Haniyeh was killed in Tehran in August.
